Renting an Alamo hire car to pick up in New York is hassle-free, and you have the opportunity to select a model to meet you and your family or party's needs. It is the most convenient and economical way to travel while you are enjoying your holiday.
There is more to New York State than New York City, although naturally as one of the world's great metropolises, the latter gets the lion's share of the attention. So, by all means explore everything the Big Apple has to offer, but when you are ready to explore the rest of the state, Alamo is here to help you make the most of your vacation. Upstate New York includes many fascinating historical sites, many relating to the American Revolution, while natural wonders include two major mountain ranges, the Adirondacks and the Catskills, as well as the scenic beauty of the Hudson Valley.
Hiring a car through Alamo is the best way to explore the 54,556 square miles of the state, which in contrast to the city is mostly unspoilt wilderness and countryside. You will pass through mountain ranges and dense forests, stopping for provisions or apple cider at family farms and charming villages, whilst marvelling at spectacular rivers and crystal-clear lakes. The Adirondack Park is the largest state park in the US, encompassing much of the north-eastern quarter of the state, and incorporating the rugged Adirondack Mountains as well as the Great Lakes including Lake Placid, Lake Eerie and Lake Sacandaga. The latter is a 29 mile long reservoir much prized by boating, water sports and fishing enthusiasts, and the nearby area includes a winter sports centre and camping ground.
Considered one of the great American drives, the majority of the 518-mile Great Lakes Seaway Trail runs through New York State, and is an ideal way to explore the region in your Alamo hire car. Starting out on New York State Route 5 and heading into the city of Buffalo, the trail also takes in one of the world's most famous natural wonders, Niagara Falls, on the US-Canadian border. The trail then follows the shores of Lake Ontario, heading towards the St Lawrence River and the famous Thousand Islands resort region.
Alternatively, take Route 9 into the historic Hudson Valley, where you can visit the Roosevelt National Park, the Vanderbilt Mansion and the famous Mohonk Mountain House with its incredible views across the Catskills. From here it's a short drive to Woodstock, where the charms that attracted the likes of Bob Dylan are still apparent, and the site of the legendary rock festival at nearby Bethel is marked with a museum and visitor centre. One thing's for sure - with so much to see in New York State, you won't ever wish you had stayed in the city!
