Renting an Alamo hire car to pick up in Rhode Island is hassle-free, and you have the opportunity to select a model to meet you and your family or party's needs. It is the most convenient and economical way to travel while you are enjoying your holiday.
Rhode Island might be the smallest of all the United States of America, but it packs a lot in, not least the famous coastline that gives it the nickname of "the Ocean State". The combination of beaches and historic sights draws in domestic and international visitors each year, arriving through Providence Airport. For air travellers to Rhode Island, Alamo car hire is usually the best choice for getting around the state as it gives you the freedom to manage your own sightseeing schedule and mix up cultural experiences, beach trips and outdoor sports in any combination you like.
Taking the hassle out of travel for our customers is one of our top priorities, so our Rhode Island location is right there at Providence Airport. We know that nothing can spoil your peace of mind like an unexpected delay, so if you give us your flight number, we'll ensure your car is ready and waiting, even your plane comes in late. With our range of partnerships and special deals, you won't need to look further for cost-effective and reliable car hire.
Once you're out of the airport, you may, like many visitors, head straight to Narragansett Bay, with its network of islands. You can take Route 114 to drive over Mount Hope Bridge to Aquidneck Island and on to Newport at its southern end. Here, you'll find Newport Harbour, complete with yachts and boats and a wide variety of places to eat and to stay. If you like seafood, be sure to visit one of the many oyster bars. Newport itself is well known for its historic mansions, including The Breakers and Marble House, both of which once belonged to the Vanderbilt family and are now open to the public. The town hosts an annual Jazz Festival in the summer.
One of the most scenic roads along the main coastline is Route 1, merging into 1A: it's possible to follow this out of Providence itself, right down through Wickford and Saunderstown out to Narragansett and Point Judith, with its lighthouse and classic seaside boardwalk. From Point Judith, you can catch the ferry to the walking trails and wildlife refuges of unspoilt Block Island. Continuing along Route 1, however, will bring you to the beach resort right at the western end of Rhode Island's coastline, Watch Hill, where adults and children alike can ride on the nation's oldest carousel.
